Pitrush - Student project HAW Hamburg

Pitrush is a student project at the HAW Hamburg. It is a fast-paced coop action game where you play a gladiator in a futuristic neon light cyberpunk setting. Your goal is to fight your way through a challenging arena with traps and robots and where the level is constantly rearranging its platforms.

As the Programmer and Game Designer in the team, I designed and developed some core technologies like
Scriptable Utility: A system where you can create actions, variables and events as project assets. This makes it easy as Game Designer to create action-flows for example for the level.

Mechanics I have implemented:
  • Level Flow
  • Combat Mechanics, which are tightly coupled to the animations.
  • Enemy AI
  • Navigation
  • Dialogue
  • UI system
Third-party technologies I used were
  • Playmaker as state-machine for the player and the enemies.
  • FMOD for music and sound
  • later we switched to Wwise for music and sound
In 2020 we participated with the game in the Indie Arena Booth and had some promising conversations with some publishers. Unfortunately we did not cut a deal and our team could not afford to continue working on the project.
